GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Fletcher Security Review's editorial board typically solicits articles directly from authors, but authors are also encouraged to submit unsolicited writing for consideration. All submissions must be original work, and should not be currently published, or pending publication, on another platform or publication.

The deadline for submissions for the print edition is February 1. Submissions for The Fletcher Security Review’s online edition are accepted on a rolling basis year round. Please submit all drafts via email to fletchersecrev@gmail.com. All submissions should be formatted as Microsoft Word documents, and include a short bio as well as your current affiliation. Please also indicated whether your submission is for the print or web edition of The Fletcher Security Review.

The print edition offers in-depth research and critical analysis on topics related to international-security. Print articles range in length from 3,000 to 6,000 words. Print articles must include endnote-style citations, formatted in accordance with The Chicago Manual of Style. When submitting a print edition article for review, please summarize the article in an abstract of no more than 200 words.

 

The online edition focus on pressing international security-related issues and current events.  Online articles usually take the form of op-eds, interviews, and commentary, and should be between 500 and 1,000 words. The online edition does not use academic footnotes or citations, and authors are encouraged to use hyperlinks as needed. The Editorial Board prioritizes pieces that focus on current policy issues, present concrete recommendations, or offer a new perspective to international security topics.

Submissions that fail to adhere to these guidelines will be returned to authors for revision.

RISING VOICES SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Rising Voices section of The Fletcher Security Review features op-eds and commentary from new voices in the international security space. Articles should focus on pressing international security-related issues and current events, and be between approximately 700 and 1200 words. Authors will receive editing support from the Fletcher Security Review Editorial Board. We welcome submissions from both within and outside the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

The Fletcher Security Review website accepts submission on a rolling basis, year-round.  All submissions should be formatted as Microsoft Word documents, and include a short bio as well as your current affiliation. The online edition does not use academic footnotes or citations, and authors are encouraged to use hyperlinks as needed.
