Sina Beaghley is a senior international/defense policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. Prior to RAND, she worked in the federal government for 12 years where she developed and implemented national security and counterterrorism policies.
A trailblazer in military intelligence, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Wendy Wayman is currently serving as the first-ever Command Chief Warrant Officer for the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command. CW5 Wayman is a native of Groton, SD, and enlisted in the Army in June 1984 before attending Basic Training at Ft Jackson, SC. She was appointed to the rank of Signals Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Technician Warrant Officer in January 1996. She also has the proud distinction of being a mother of two soldiers--soldiers who have sometimes had to go into dangerous situations using the information her intelligence teams provide.

Chris Cruz is currently the Senior Vice President of International Programs at Operation Smile. Before joining Operation Smile, Chris served over 24 years in the US Navy. During this time, he reported to US Southern Command in September 2012 where he served as the NGO Engagements Branch Chief in the J9 Partnering Directorate. In this capacity, he collaborated with over 100 NGOs, private businesses, and academic institutions on humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and sustainment and development initiatives. At the end of his tour at J9, he retired from the Navy and joined Operation Smile.
Jeffrey Smith is currently Program Officer at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights where he manages the organization’s advocacy projects that focus on sub-Saharan Africa. He collaborates closely with grassroots civic activists and journalists across the continent—and the world—to highlight pressing human rights concerns to a wider audience. Mr. Smith’s research and advocacy has covered Zimbabwe, The Gambia, Swaziland, and Kenya, among others. He appears frequently in media outlets as an expert commentator on African affairs, including on CNN, MSNBC, Al Jazeera, NPR, BBC, and Voice of America. Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he also received a master’s degree in international relations and was the university’s first recipient of its distinguished human rights graduate certificate.
